Words, Words, Words

Words, Words, Words on Night Skies and Dragonflies

I am a writer. I’m a professional writer by trade and a creative writer by night. Written words speak to me more than anything else.

I am introverted if I don’t know you and outspoken if we’re acquainted, but I still prefer the written word over the spoken word. I hate small talk but I love sayings that speak to the heart and inspire.

I motivate myself through written words and I enjoy deep conversations. I like to think I’m a great writer but when it comes down to actually writing something it’s pretty much the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Why am I rambling on to you like this?

I figured my first post should reveal something about me. And so, in addition to the ramblings, I’ve decided to share ten of my favorite quotations—those that speak to my hurt and those that fuel my drive. I hope you enjoy them and find them just as interesting as I do.

“I don’t want to earn my living; I want to live.” –Oscar Wilde

“So this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and still trying to figure out how that could be.” –The Perks of Being A Wallflower

“The axe forgets what the tree remembers.” –African Proverb

“We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell.” –Oscar Wilde

“Be a voice, not an echo.” –Unknown

“Not everyone is going to want, accept, or know how to receive your energy. Make peace with that and keep on.” –Unknown

“I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question.” –Harun Yahya

“Always smile back at little children. To ignore them is to destroy their belief that the world is good.” –Unknown

“Some see a weed, some see a wish.” – UnknownThe axe forgets what the tree remembers. -African Proverb

“I am the designer of my own catastrophe.” –Unknown

The last one describes how I feel about life pretty well. Others may see a chaotic catastrophe but I’ve made the choices I’ve made for my own reasons and live my life according to my own values and rules.

Do you have any sayings that speak to you on some level that others don’t? Share them in the comments!

Until next time,

 ~Dani

P.S. If you know who said the quotations I’ve marked as unknown in this post, please let me know!
